Day 14

Two weeks!  Wow, time seems to be flying, but I have a looong way to go.

My biggest side effect right now is my itchy scalp.  I've used that shea butter masque a couple of times and it does help but only for about a day.  I'll be making (another) trip to Whole Foods this evening to look for a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.  Would prefer not to use a medicated dandruff shampoo if I can help it.  I'm hoping intense moisturizing will take care of this if I can find some good products.

My body is itchy too, although no more rashes.  I purchased this Aveeno Bath Treatment and that really helped relieve and calm my skin.

I've had some spells of being very fatigued but it doesn't last all that long. My thirst is never quenched and I'm loooving this new Hydroflask insulated 40oz water of the best investments I've made for this journey!

The lanolin is really doing the trick on my lips so far.  They are dry but manageable.

My face is drying out and some of the bumps are flaky, but my moisturizers seem to be doing their job because there's no extreme dryness yet.  On Day 12 my face looked red and rough and even more bumpy but the very next day it was looking better again.  Overall, it's improved and healing and my new breakouts are decreasing in frequency.

I've been slacking on my healthy eating and I need to re-motivate myself.  I have to remind myself that a healthy diet is a part of this healing process, just like taking the pills.

  1. Oh man, I totally agree on the healthy eating thing. I need to be better which I posted about on my Accutane log too. I'm usually a really healthy eater but my one year old puts a strain on time.
I'm so happy to have found someone else who is into that stuff! I'm bothered by the products that I'm using during Accutane because I usually use all natural organic stuff from Whole Foods but I was terrified to use anything during Accutane that my derm didn't recommend. She of course vouches for CeraVe and Cetaphil (I chose CeraVe and it has worked pretty well). These are gentle but not very natural. I admire you for going out on a limb and trying to find natural things that work for you, maybe I'll get more courageous as my skin clears up. I'm just so worried about getting more breakouts =[
Nice log, most people don't keep up with it after the first month or so!

  2. Hi Thomasiana! I read your blog too and your story is inspiring me too :) I can especially appreciate your comment about healthy eating and taking the "easy route" with Amy's prepared food, etc. I've totally been doing that lately! I know how much better I feel when I cook my healthy meals so I just need to get my butt back in the kitchen!

I will say that I ended up switching to CeraVe foaming really is more gentle than the Cetaphil-like brand I got at Whole Foods. Everything else I have is working pretty well.

If you're trying to go more natural, feel free to keep reading my blog because I'll be updating plenty on what does and doesn't work for me. I really think I'll be sticking with lanolin for my lips longterm as it's working really well. And the sweet almond oil is awesome for face and body. I see you are using sesame oil - how do you like that?

Good luck!! Let's keep up with one another. :)
